Mohammad Zubaid is currently Professor of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University. He heads the division of cardiology at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital and serves as a consultant interventional cardiologist at the Chest Diseases Hospital. He is the founding and current president of Kuwait Cardiac Society. He was appointed Chair of the Faculty of Cardiology at Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization (KIMS)  in June 2014 to establish cardiology residency program in Kuwait.

Dr Wael Abdulrahman Almahmeed is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Heart and Vascular Institute in Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor at the UAE University and has an Adjunct Staff position at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. Dr Almahmeed completed his undergraduate medical training at the Medical School in the University of Southampton, England. He continued his post graduate studies in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. This was followed by a fellowship in Echocardiography at the same institution. He received his Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine in 1994 and in Cardiology in 1995. Subsequently he became a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (1996), Fellow of the American College of Physicians (1998), Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (1998) and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2004. He is a foundation member of the Gulf Heart Association and the Emirates Cardiac Society. He is the past president of the Emirates Cardiac Society and the Gulf Heart Association. He is the current president Elect of the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiology and the current Governor for the American College of Cardiology Gulf Chapter. In 2000, he initiated World Heart Day in the UAE. Today it is celebrated by many institutions across the country. As Chair of the CME committee, at the Health Authority, he established mandatory CME hours for health care professionals and also established a system for CME accreditation. Dr Almahmeed’s expertise is in non-invasive Cardiology/Echocardiography and Heart Disease in Pregnancy.

Dr. Abdulwahid Almulla is a senior consultant cardiac surgeon in the Heart Hospital. He is also Program Director of the Arab Board Program of Cardiac Surgery. As a surgeon he conducts various adult cardiac surgical procedures and he is particularly interested in minimally invasive cardiac surgery.
He is among the first group of senior HMC clinicians who are participating in the HMC internal fellowship program of IHI; he is also actively engaged in quality improvement programs at the Heart Hospital.

Dr Kadhim Jaffer Sulaiman senior consultant cardiologist at the National Heart Center in the Royal Hospital. He is the Immediate Past President of the Oman Heart Association and Past President of Gulf Heart Association.

Jassim Al Suwaidi, M.B.Ch.B., B.A.O., L.R.C.P.&S.I.(Honors), is currently Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. He studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Al Suwaidi pursued his postgraduate studies at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Rochester, MN, US between 1993 and 2000, where he completed internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology training, and subsequently became American Board Certified in these specialties. To date, Dr. Al Suwaidi has more than 300 Medline publications in addition to other contributions, including book chapters, abstracts etc., and has presented research work over the years at multiple international cardiovascular conferences.

Hajar Ahmed Hajar Al Binali is a Qatari cardiologist, poet and former government minister. He authored several works, including diwans and literary studies. He has also published a number of articles in the field of cardiology.
He has held chairman positions in several organizations, including Hamad Medical Corporation and the Gulf Heart Association, an organization which he founded in 2002.
He has been recognized by the World Health Organization for his work in preventing tobacco use in Qatar on two occasions, the first being in 1992 and the latter in 2003. He was selected to deliver the opening lecture in the Second International Conference on Water-Pipe Tobacco Smoking in 2014. Hajar was also awarded the Qatar State Award for Medicine in 2009.
His first appointment in the medical field was as chief of cardiology of Rumeilah Hospital in 1978; a capacity he served in for four years. He is presently chairman of the cardiology department of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), having been appointed to that position in 1982. He was appointed chairman of HMC in 1998 and retained the position until 2003. He played a large role in efforts to open a Heart Hospital in HMC.
He became the first chairman of The International Society for the History of Islamic Medicine in 2000, and at present is the society’s honorary president. In 2002, he founded and chaired the Gulf Heart Association, an organization which has been an affiliate of the European Society of Cardiology since 2005. The HMC board built an auditorium inside the medical center naming it after him in recognition of his works in health education. The auditorium is named the Hajar Auditorium.
