European Examination in Core Cardiology (EECC)

The Gulf Heart Association is proud to reaffirm its commitment to improving the quality of cardiac care across the region. As part of this mission, we are dedicated to supporting candidates who wish to advance their cardiology knowledge and strengthen their competencies in cardiovascular care.
In collaboration with the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the Union of European Medical Specialists – Cardiology Section (UEMS-CS), the Gulf Heart Association is pleased to invite interested candidates to submit their applications for enrolment in the European Exam in Core Cardiology (EECC).
Purpose
The European Exam in Core Cardiology (EECC) aims to deliver a comprehensive, balanced, and current assessment of the core cardiology knowledge essential for specialty trainees preparing for independent practice. It is designed to promote the development of broad expertise and serves as a valuable complement to workplace-based assessments within a structured cardiology training program.
Requirements
- Cardiology Trainees
- Priority to candidates that have completed core training and are in their third year of cardiology training
- Registration Fee: 400 €
Deadlines
- Feb. 15, 2026: Deadline for Submission
- March 10, 2026: Candidates will receive their application status
- Mar. 31, 2026: EECC Provide ProctorU® link to all registered candidates
- May 31, 2026: Candidates to book the exam time slot on ProctorU® website
Examination Detail
The examination consists of 120 multiple-choice written questions in English and runs over three hours, with no break.
Questions are designed to assess the candidate’s knowledge:
- Based on a clinical scenario
- Five options with only one single best answer
- No negative marking
Questions are drawn from the entire spectrum of core cardiology reflecting the ESC Core Curriculum for the Cardiologist.
Examination Delivery
The examination is delivered once a year, using an online proctoring platform (CYIM/ProctorU®).
This provides candidates with the safety and convenience of an online platform while retaining the integrity and quality of an on-site supervised exam.
The online format of the EECC is:
- Accessible from anywhere in the world.
- Taken on the candidate’s own device (computer only) and monitored by a human proctor online through ProctorU®.
